Toro and Field Green Salad

Inspired by the renowned Nobu restaurant, this Delectable Toro and Field Green Salad, this luxurious dining experience can now be enjoyed in the comfort of your home. With our adaptation of Nobu's Matsuhisa dressing, I substituted grape seed oil for avocado oil and omitted the sugar for a healthier version without compromising taste.

Ingredients: For the Matsuhisa Dressing:

  • Half a sweet onion

  • 4 tbsp + 2 tsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp + 1 tsp rice vinegar

  • 2 tsp water

  • A pinch of Celtic sea salt

  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder

  • 4 tsp avocado oil

  • 4 tsp sesame oil

For the Salad:

  • Mixed greens

For the Toro:

  • Toro slices

  • Salt & pepper

  • Optional: soy sauce or ponzu sauce for topping

Directions:

  1. Finely chop the onion and combine it with soy sauce, rice vinegar, water, Celtic sea salt, and mustard powder in a bowl. Once the salt dissolves, mix in the avocado and sesame oils. Whisk the dressing well.

  2. Toss the dressing with mixed greens to create the Field Green Salad.

For the Toro:

  1. Season the toro slices with salt and pepper according to your preference.

  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, sear the toro slices for 20-30 seconds on each side, ensuring not to cook them all the way through - just a light sear is needed.

  3. Remove the toro from heat, top with a little soy sauce or ponzu sauce if desired, and serve alongside the Field Green Salad.

Indulge in our Delectable Toro and Field Green Salad and savor the exquisite flavors of this homemade fine dining experience.
